Once upon a time, there were three flowers.
The first one was healing,
the second one was beautiful,
and the third one didn’t know what his role was.
People didn’t come by, so these two flowers didn’t really benefit from their roles, except when they argued about which one was more important.
One day, a boy came running
and stood mesmerized right next to the third flower.
He asked his mother what that little flower was for.
Mom explained the purpose of the first two flowers, but when it comes to the third flower, she said she didn’t know its purpose.
The little flower sadly told the boy, “I hoped you people would help me.”
At that moment, the boy realized he understood the flower,
and they began to chat happily.
The other two flowers were somewhat confused and offended.
The boy ran to his mother and told her he was talking to the flowers; she didn’t believe him.
No one believed him.
The little flower understood that he was the proof that people and flowers can talk.
He was inconspicuous, as that was the only way to remain hidden,
so that only the boy who could speak with flowers could recognize him.
Reflections
- Understanding and Connection: What does it mean to truly understand someone or something? How can we foster connections with those who may feel overlooked?
- Identity and Purpose: How do we find our own purpose in life? In what ways can we help others discover theirs?
- Childlike Wonder: What can we learn from the perspective of children? How does maintaining a sense of curiosity enhance our experiences?
- Belief and Validation: Why is it important to believe in the unseen or the unconventional? How can we support those who feel different or misunderstood?
- Nature’s Voice: In what ways do you think nature communicates with us? How can we tune into those messages?
